“Common Law Spouse” is an Urban Myth – You Need a Cohabitation Agreement

On completing an online application recently for a car insurance quote, I noticed that one of the options for marital status was “Common law spouse”. As a family lawyer I found this a bit disconcerting, because the concept has no legal status in the UK.
